What classes in general do the highest dps currently, and is predicted to do the most in the future patches?

MM hunters, affliction warlocks, and fire mages are all pretty close right now after the patch warlocks should take the lead

Really warlocks? I thought everyone was mad about the current state of locks

Raidbots is a great tool right now, as it'll show you the median for all parses during the whole patch (don't use "top 100" - it shows the outliers, which favors RNG classes).

Example: Chim 10man normal. Closeset you get to a tank and spank with full raid buffs.

In order, the ds goes: MM Hunter, Ass rogue, Combat Rogue, Surv Hunter, Elemental Shaman, All three warlock specs (weird...), kitty, spriest, fire mage, fury war, ret paly, uh dk, boom, frost dk, arcane mage. All within 3k of each other.

Any of those dot classes getting DI would put them closer to the top (spriest usually gets it first, then boom, then fire mage).

Look at helter skelter fights like ascendent, and it looks like: aff locks, booms, destro locks, mm hunters, ele shams, fire mage, demo lock, surv hunter, uh dk....

Or cho'gall (also imo a bit helter skelter): surv hunter, afflock, kitty, spriest, retadin, ass rogue, combat rogue, arms war, boom, uh dk, ele sham, fury war

End of the day, *most* specs are competitive with the right player. Contrary to what's said above, fire mages are not always the most competitive due to RNG and middle of the pack single target (though DI helps with this...I can attest), but they have godly aoe on fights like halfus or maloriak. That said, frost and arcane might be up there with hunters next patch. We'll see once we get more parses in 4.1.

I'd say that if you want to be competitive, go mage, hunter, rogue, or lock. They're actually making pures pretty solid next patch. My 10man has one of each class except war, and each of the pures put out almost the exact same damage each fight. Our last h chim kill we were literally had a 200k disparity between the four of us. Was neato.

Boom, Fire, and spriest are getting a stealth nerf next patch though with the DI nerf. Warlocks will be unaffected.
