PvP Frost DK & Frost Presence
I have been playing around with a slightly different pvp set up the past few days and it's having some surprisingly good success.
I spec into improved frost presence and have been doing 2s in Frost Presence. At first I didn't like it because I am use to the face pace of Unholy Presence but I am finding that there are benefits to the slower more hard hitting pace of Frost Presence.
Obliterate
Going from Unholy Presence to Frost Presence seemed to have allowed Obliterate to take over my #1 damage spot on recount easily.
The reason for this is Frost Presence allows for me to set up Killing Machine/Obliterates easier. I run around a 80% crit rate on Obliterate and, unless I am on a holy paladin or resto shaman, I obliterate everything else because it hits way harder then Frost Strike on just about everything.
In Unholy Presence it felt like I was always just spamming low damage frost strikes. Obliterate just didn't seem worth it because of the lack of RP gain it gives compared to using single rune abilities to gain more RP to spam frost strike.
In Frost Presence I use Frost Strike as filler since I am always sitting on a ton of RP and have a much easier time using every KM proc for Obliterate.
I have also pretty much stopped using Necrotic Strike completely since it's not worth it with this set up. Putting up Blood Plague to gain that extra 12.5% damage on Oblit seems far better, and critting 3500 resilience mages for 30k with obliterate just seems to put out far more pressure.
I have also found this set up to be infinitely better when facing off against rogue teams, because obliterate is hitting so hard because it's nearly always used with a KM proc.
I have been playing around with this build because since the NS resilience nerf it felt like my pressure really dropped off, and HB/NS spam just doesn't put out the pressure.
Have only really tried it out in 2s and BGs so far but it's working rather well. Going to test it out in 3v3 tonight when I start my new team, and see if it works in that setting.
I have a decent amount of haste but it seems like a waste with this spec and mastery would probably be better since it's impossible to spend all my resources in Frost Presence.
Has anyone else tried Frost in Frost Presence for pvp?

my experience was only at level 80 doing bgs pre xpac, but i noticed similar results even though DK mains laughed at me for using obliterate in pvp.01/21/2011 8:56 AMPosted by PrimuzHas anyone else tried Frost in Frost Presence for pvp?
probably going to get my dk leveled soonish, interested to see how you find playing like this in 3s. i have always been 'meh' on unholy and preferred blood and frost myself.

Yeah I am very excited to see how it goes. I feel very arms warriorish in terms of the slower, hard hitting attacks.
I like the fact that I can set up burst combos easier in Frost Presence because of the slower pace....
Another thing that was amazing is Howling Blast which was normally 30% of my damage dropped down to around 8-9%.
Improved Frost Presence + Frost Presence + Pillar of Frost + Pvp Str trinket + Killing Machine on someone below 35% life = lol
