I'd seen posts before I was finally able to try to install, so I was warned when it happened to me. My installation froze for at least two hours for a map (as far as I could tell) file. If you cancel the installation it sounds as though it can mess things up badly. I left my machine running over night, and in the morning the install was complete.

REMEMBER: check the Energy Saver options under your System Preferences. It's okay for the screen to black out, but don't let it go into sleep mode until your install is complete.

Good luck!

I would open any and all info window thingies on the installer. Also post any error or crash reports you are getting.

Another good thing to do is have Console.app open when installing and set to all messages. There might be a message logged then that may give a clue as to whats going wrong.
