Reforging Mage Stats
Does anyone know if PvE fire mages will have to reforge their stats to get to hit cap? A mage from my guild told me we can't rely on moonkins or spriests anymore. I figure it shouldn't be too hard to dump spirit into hit but I want to make sure it's something I should do before I allocate elsewhere. Thanks
Technically, spirit is something you shouldn't have on your gear at all anymore. If you do have spirit gear, you should reforge as much of it as you can to hit. In addition, change your Purified Dreadstones (Int/Spi) to Veiled Dreadstones (Int/Hit) to reach the 17% (446) hit cap.

Yep. I figure some of the T10 has spirit on it so it's just a junk stat. I haven't looked at the gem changes so re-gemming is going to suck.
I'm going to be regemming my Purified Dreadstones into Veiled Dreadstones and see how close that gets me (too lazy to figure it out now). After that I'll reforge all the spirit into hit if I need more, then crit, haste, mastery, whatever I click on first probably.
No mage T10 has Spirit. We're fortunate that they looked ahead to this day when they designed the set last year.

I only have one spirit piece, which is my weapon and that will be going to hit.
I intend to get cap with int-hit gems.

Lol I looked up the T10 after I mentioned it and thought "insert foot in mouth". Some pieces of my gear I believe still has spirit though not many (2 I think). I know my frozen bonespike will be getting re-forged. I think I'm going to see if I can get the hit from gems before re-allocating spirit though. I also have a heroic ring that has hit on it so I can just swap the gear. Decisions...
You will likely have to reforge to become capped in the hit department.
You dont want to gem for hit, you want to have enough hit that you can reforge your hit into crit
so could i take something such as attack, sta, or str and reforge it into another stat?

Doh.
well was thinking it was only the 3 side stats hit, haste crit and soon mastery =p
You can't reforge primary stats :/ Only secondary stats (crit, hit, haste, mastery)
Spirit has become a secondary stat. the PTR yesterday allowed one to reforge spirit to Hit. we shall see soon enough I suspect.

What are you going to do with the blue sockets now? Unless I'm mistaken 10 Int 10 Hit is a Purple gem and that will activate the blue socket bonus's on the gear.
I'm considering reforging all my spirit into Mastery, just to see what happens. Considering I have a decent amount of crit and haste, and I'm over the hit cap, why not? Some mastery is better than no mastery, I'm betting.
Anyone know what happens if you reforge a piece? Can you re-reforge it, although it would surely be a loss from the original stats, it would be better than having a bad stat

well that's good news.
one last newb question hehe
when i gear for 2ndary stats, am i going to look for the highest # and reforge it to the stat i want (like if i want haste and i see one item with lets say 80 spirit and the other item has 40 haste, id go for the 80 spirt so i can get 80 haste?) or is there some scale with the item level now so everything is even with teh reforge process?
idk to me it sounds more complicated than the old way and yet they were trying to make it more simple lol

You're only going to get 40% of the value of the original stat, so it won't be a direct swap.
This feels like a dumb question, but how do we go about reforging stats? is that a new profession ability?
