Dark Simulacrum PVE only?
IF the Info about it right
Places a dark ward on an enemy that persists for 8 sec, triggering when the enemy next spends mana on a single-target spell, and allowing the Death Knight to unleash an exact duplicate of that spell. Against nonplayers, only absorbs some harmful spells.
Why would it be made like this?

so when chogal throws a shadow bolt at you for 8bajillon damage and you somehow live it doesnt send it back knocking 8 bajillion health off.
Well for instance, at one point or maybe still possibly a Death Knight could target a Shadow Priest and steal Shadowform from them. It lasted indefinately until it was fixed to two minutes and i'm not sure what its status is at the moment. Also, imagine the scenario where a DK could absorb and send flying back something like, I don't know, Lich Kings Necrotic Plague back at him.
TL;DR it's worded like that due to Blizzard not wanting Death Knights to absorb a handful of spells that would imbalance or cause weird things to happen. You can still expect a Death Knight to be able to face a warlock and send a Shadow Bolt flying back or assumably something like Corruption or to maybe reflect something like a Boss's lower-end bolt spell or whatnot.
...I doubt they'd be able to fire back Devouring Plague just due to the madness an added disease could tack onto Obliterate, etc.

So you can't make a boss eat his own extremely powerful spell?
