Hunter misdirect , assist macro help

I am fairly new to macro making but have done my homework. can someone tell me why this does not work or better yet tell me how to make it work.

First thing i do when i get in a group is make the tank my focus

/cast [target = focus] misdirection
/assist [target = focus]

My attempt of course is to hit the macro and cast misdirection on the tank and then attack his target again.

The reason: I start pulling aggro from tank so it would be nice to hit one button to cast misdirect on tank and go right back to hitting the mob. otherwise i somtimes waste time looking for the mob i was attackign prior (which is almost always the same as the tank)

Please help

Why would you need to change off your target? Provided misdirection doesn't force a target change and that your tank is already set as your focus you should only need the first line of the macro.

/cast [target = focus] misdirection
