votekick getting out of control
This one time, I'm healing a heroic group, and during the fight I stopped healing one of the dps (a mage) because he just could not seem to learn the mechanic of not standing on the big yellow flashing bombs on the ground. After the fight I explained that I simply do not have enough mana in heroics to try keep someone alive that can't avoid big yellow flashing bombs.
Of course, I was given the typical "Shut up and learn how to heal you noob", which was not entirely unexpected from this guy. What did surprise me was 5 seconds later being removed from the group.
There are a million other stories like this that show how the /votekick is becoming more and more abused.
I appreciate Blizzard making a mechanism to remove people from groups that are just dragging everyone down. But it seems that, especially with the difficulty of heroics right now (especially for healers!) that this system is being abused.
The main problem is that people don't seem to think about it at all. They just see the window and click yes. This is further exasperated by the fact that you only need 3 votes to kick someone, so if 1 person decides to votekick, then only 2 out of the 4 remaining people need to click yes.
No discussion, no explanation, just a loading screen. buh-bye!
If you don't believe how much it can be abused, next time you're in a group just randomly votekick someone. Put your reason as 'just to be a %@%@'. You'll see that it almost always just goes right through.
It seems that people would be better served if someone could initiate a votekick, which would get announced to the party, but then the actual vote would take place 1 minute later. This would give people a chance to talk about it before mindlessly clicking a 'yes' button.

They kicked the healer?
Bad luck on their part I guess.
Also, your name doesn't fit anymore, you should change it.

This is the exact reason I ALWAYS run Heroics with guildies, no exceptions. If not enough guildies are on to run something. then I go level an alt, screw gearing quickly.
To be honest it seems that they did the healer a favor, I wouldn't to group with that guy and if the group was stupid enough to vote kick the healer I wouldn't want to be with them either.

K.
The bad thing is it's only going to get worse as fresher 85's (like me) are going to be kicked immediately by ones that have been through the heroics and acquired gear. It will be the haves vs have nots on a massively multiplayer scale.
This is why I keep lobbying for MORE crafting materials (cloth, ore, etc).

Don't bother saying anything afterward next time, just rez him and don't heal him up. He'll either learn from his own stupidity by his repair bill or by his 2-hour queue when every healer in the game ignores his scrubby ass.
I think they saved you the trouble, that is obviously a group that at least I personally wouldn't have enjoyed. Also being a healer I think queues are pretty quick? I feel sorry for the next healers that queue with that mage.
Questions to consider with this topic:
Are there plenty of solutions in place already?
Is the feature in question mandatory for gameplay?
Are there solutions regarding this feature that provide enough benefit without additional consequences?
Yes
No
Not really. No matter what you do, some minority will be abused by the system. This seems to be the best setup to provide the least amount of penalty to people.

Kicking a healer out of heroics for not being able to heal the tank and all the dps is stupid. DPS is a dime a dozen.
Just re-queue, you'll find a group that understands. People are learning quickly, but if you're unlucky enough to get into a group where dps is pulling aggro, they are actually doing you a favor by kicking you.
No buff, you get right back in insta-queue.

Probably did the healer a favor by kicking them. The rest of the dungeon was going to be as bad.

Blizzard has decided that Guilds are the solution, like it or not. The LFD system will work again in several months when people learn the fights, but until then it's guild runs.
Besides, you are going to need to run dungeons with your guild to get rep up with your guild. I'm out of quests now, so guild runs are the way I get guild XP.
The rest of the group likely thought they were kicking the mage, not the healer. No one reads the vote kick thing when it pops up.
I've been in a couple dungeons where some idiot DPSers who were standing in "fire" decided to kick the healer. I wanted to vote "no" on each occasion, but it passed before I got the chance.
So, on both occasions, I let them know that it was actually their fault and just left as well. I wonder how long the three DPS stuck around tyring to get another healer and tank. My guess is that it wasn't very long. I hope they enjoyed another long queue.
[e] I like the idea of the initiated kick, waiting one minute to discuss, the another vote to see if it actually passes. Either that, or I would like to see the amount of votes needed to pass increased to four.

The biggest problem with votekick is that it's usually faster to just agree to the votekick than to try to figure out what the problem is and either fix it or deal with the drama from whoever started the kick. It would be nice if there was a confirmation that popped up after saying yes with a big flashy message that clearly said you kicking NAME who is HEALING are you really sure?
why would a healer complain about getting vote kicked? sure you lose progress in your dungeon but you get instaqueues besides as a dps i have learned that while in cata it was the tank that was always right in any argument, now with the advent of more difficult heals all of a sudden the healer is the one thats never wrong, why is this? get rid of dps, replaced in 2 seconds, get rid of tank 2 min wait, boot a healer 10-15 mins average wait.
getting rid of healers is a bad idea, dps and tanks just have to learn to be better, this added incentive to not suck cannot be a bad thing, so votekick is fine

The system, and the community, simply needs to be reigned in.
