25 man guilds shrinking away.

25's are dying and blizzard is doing nothing to reverse this trend. I was in a 25 man guild on my old server it was a launch server and the guild had been together since BC. It died last month due to poor recruiting opertunities. Some leadership issues. But honestly it simply died to too many players viewing 10 mans as harder content and thus more pro. The players on my old server were " clannish " to their 10 man guilds. When i started on that server there were 6 active and thriving 25 man guilds. 2 alliance 4 horde. When i left last month there are only 2 guilds left both are horde. One them was accustomed to getting server firsts and another that is the last of the old guard. Both are struggling with recruiting. In my view and experience many 25 man guilds are dying to the following reasons.

1. Too many players choosing 10 man content. As seeing it as easy to organize or seeing it more of a challenge on a player individual basis.

2. Server pops are shrinking and many are condensing down. Many players are server hunting right now. Blizz is loving it too. $55 for faction and server transfer per character adds up.

3. Blizz added faction and server transfers. Don't like something about your guild or server? Just move somewhere else. This destablized many servers and lots of guilds have suffered ever the more with players getting gear and legendarys and then leaving after they used this gear and items their guilds worked hard to get them to get into more progressed guilds on other servers. Many times its hard to lose these equiped players and hurts that guilds progression.

4. Blizz gave 10 mans and 25 mans the same rewards accross the board. Say what you will about 10 mans versus 25 mans and their difficulties in raiding. 25 mans are truly more work maintaning rosters and having mats available ready for raiding. As with any enviroment that is economy based like wow. More mouths to feed and flask cost more gold. More time is spent recruiting to fill rosters. More time is spent often wiping on bosses with less forgiving mechanics due to the players who think fire increases players personal damage output.

5. MoP has yet to show anything that will offer reasons or choices to help reverse this. So more players are saying why invest time in joining a guild thats probly goin to die or reduce down to 10 mans in MoP anyways?

6. There are many other things that could be said but those were my top items.

In conclusion blizz is cutting 25 man guilds throats and we are all watching them slowly bleed out.

Blizzard hasn't cut 25s throats, players have.

All this shows is that the only reason people wanted to run 25s in the first place was because of the improved loot quality and quantity.

They also have more players to help with maintaining those rosters and farming those mats and getting that gold.
