Your thoughts on girl players who correct you
I am wondering what your thoughts are when a female player corrects you or someone else for referring to them as male. Does it bother you, or are you indifferent? Would you encourage girls to correct others, or not?
If you are a girl gamer, do you correct other players? Or do you just play along? Why?

What are your thoughts on male players on female toons who correct people when they call them her?
Why would it bother me if they are correcting someone who is wrong.
What are your thoughts on female players on male toons pretending to be male players?
what are your thoughts on male players playing male characters? are they gay?

Normally I don't care how I am addressed by others, as long it is not something disrespectful or rude. Once in a while I will correct someone who insists on calling me man, bro, or some such name. But for the most part, it doesn't matter to me. I have heard all the problems that come with letting too many people know your female, and honestly I prefer to avoid that.

I would encourage not to correct and why? *whispers and friend invites* You'd be surprised at the annoying massive ":P" I get on my female Tauren hunter. And just because it's a female Tauren.
What if you are a girl, playing a male worgen druid who is in tree form?

I wouldn't blame them... it just strips away one level of possible harassment.
If they do it rudely, like I should have known, I don't like it. Otherwise I don't mind.
I just respond with "I always assume every player is a male."

I got kicked from ICC by a female RL. She was raging about a wipe on festergut so I just overrode her on vent and said "Jusy Hush honey, go in the kitchen and make us guys a sandwich and we will figure this out for you" Bam Instakick but Vent was rolling laughing.

I used to correct people. I thought it was silly that I could be mistaken for a guy.
"My character is a girl, with a girl name! How could you think I'm a boy!?!"
I soon learned why people assume chick toons are boys.
Now, I usually just go along with it. Unless it's something that actually distracts me.
Example: 3 people in a group, me & 2 guys. "Hey man, wanna trade [X item]?" "Hey why isn't he responding?" Then it turns out they meant me.
If that happens, I'll say I'm a chick just so that I'm not confused if they mean me! xD
Otherwise, /MANFLEX
When I talk about a character I use "him" or "her" based on the gender of the character. If someone corrects me... that's alright with me! :D

I even correct folks who call me "he" when I am on one of my male characters. Mostly out of reflex. But the inner feminist that I inherited from the generations before me likes to make sure guys out there know girls can play video games too.
For example, I was in heroic deadmines once and we were arguing over who would get in the prototype. The tank of the instance said something to the effect of, "Not the hunter, he is our best DPS." I quickly corrected that. He may not have intended his remark to mean that if I had good dps I must be a guy, but should that notion be there, I wanted to dissuade him of it.
